Georgia Football Class 4A State Championship Preview: Perry vs. Stockbridge

The Match-up:
Neither Stockbridge, nor Perry had ever played for a state championship prior to this season.
That changed Friday night when the Tigers upset two-time defending state champ Benedictine 45-31, and Perry outlasted Starr’s Mill 28-24 to send both teams to a state championship game for the first time in program history.
The Panthers have been playing football since 1954, and had only reached one semifinal way back in 195x. The Tigers suffered through three semifinal losses in the past decade (2014, 2016, 2018) before finally breaking through on Friday night.
Both teams are happy to be playing for a state championship, and someone’s going to win their first. I
t’s hard to say who has played a tougher schedule, but one thing is for certain. Points are going to be scored in this game. The Tigers will come in averaging 43.6 points-per-game while the Panthers will come in averaging 37.9.
